Why is my recovery mode not working?

😢 I have an iPod touch 4th gen. Recently I have locked myself out of my iPod by entering the wrong passwords too many times. My iPod says "iPod is disabled, connect to iTunes" I have only had my iPod for about two weeks and have never connected to iTunes before. I have looked up multiple how to's on how to get my iPod in recovery mode. None seem to work. I get to the point where on my iTunes it says "iTunes detects an iPod in recovery mode. To use iPod in iTunes you must Restore your iPod" What is this suppose to mean? Am I in recovery mode because it says I am but it's not working. When i restore my iPod it says my iPod is locked and i need to enter my passcode on my iPod. It's like a big circle of dead ends. Help me please.

Did you try this? 1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port. 2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off. 3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on. 4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. 5. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
