2009 macbook won't charge? Time resets, wifi disconnects

I have a 2009 white macbook version 10.6.8 with a 2.4 GHz Inter Core 2 Duo with 2GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory. Recently, when I try to plug in my charger in, the little light doesn't light up and my laptop doesn't recognize that it's plugged in- it doesn't even say Not Charging. I know for a fact it's not the outlet. It works every 60 or 70 times I plug the charger into the laptop. Also, sometimes it just shuts off randomly and when I turn it back on the date resets to some time in 2001 (when I open the date and time settings it changes it back to normal). Upon turning it on the wifi also disconnects. Help!!

Thanks in advance for your help 🙂

Try resetting the SMC and PRAM

To reset the SMC on MacBook and MacBook Pro with a battery you can remove

Shut down the computer.

Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.

Remove the battery.

Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.

Release the power button.

Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.

Press the power button to turn on the computer.

On Newer Mac portables with a battery you shouldn't remove yourself

Shut down the computer.

Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.

On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.

Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.

Press the power button to turn on the computer.

Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

Resetting PRAM and NVRAM

Shut down the computer.

Locate the following keys on the keyboard: Command, Option, P, and R. You will need to hold these keys down simultaneously in step 4.

Turn on the computer.

Press and hold the Command-Option-P-R keys. You must press this key combination before the gray screen appears.

Hold the keys down until the computer restarts and you hear the startup sound for the second time.

Release the keys.
