I've recently bought the Apple Wireless keyboard. Brilliant. But I can't find how to make a delete button.
There is the back space but nothing seems to work with it (alt/ctrl/cmd) for simple delete.
Tried to find a way to programme the keys but haven't worked it out
any suggestions appreciated

Hopefully JRBUK solved this by now, but FWIW... I got a new UK wireless keyboard in August 2013 and no delete key just the original double-width Backspace I know and love from my 80s Macs.
Anyhow, Fn with that key works as [Del] for me - deleting the character to the right of the cursor. Malcolm's checks above are good advice, btw.

Try holding the Fn key when you use Backspace.
From your description of the Return key, you may have a "English (British)" or "English (International)" keyboard instead of the more common (at least here) "English (US)" version.

Does the Fn key work properly with other keys? e.g.
Fn ⇡ = Page Up
Fn ⇣ = Page Down
Fn ⇠ = Home
Fn ⇢ = End
Fn ⌫ = ⌦
Hi , I know it's few years to late but have just a iMac and it comes with the compact wireless keyboard so I struggled with this same problem. These posts helped me and I discovered new things.
On my home screen/desktop fn+backspace don't work but command+backspace does.
In apps like Photos both work but command+backspace don't ask questions.
In word processing app like Notes: fn+backspace = Delete
backspace = back 1 space
alt+Backspace = back 1 word
command+backspace= back 1 line
Best is to press all keys and discover new combo's:-)

You have to hold the fn key and then press the backspace key. It worked just fine with my apple wireless keyboard.
I use the Apple Wireless Keyboard with a Lenovo Laptop. (And a Macbook Pro). Control D works as a delete key for the PC environment.

How old is the KB you purchased?
All Apple keyboards have, for some time, had a delete key (located in the upper right-hand part of the KB).

I have those Bluetooth Apple keyboards Model No.: 1314 which have no "Delete" button.
Shift+fn+Backspace perfectly works as "Delete"
FYI.
I simply used the CMD key plus the Backspace and it worked. Hope it helps
Make sure the setting in the "Input Sources" tab of "Languages & Text" system preferernce matches your keyboard.

My MacBook has a key labelled "Delete" but it is really a backspace key. Here is a little trick. Command Right Arrow takes the cursor to the end of a line of text, then Backspace to delete backwards!

I bought it from the online Apple store a two months ago.
I've now looked them up online and zoomed in and sure enough they have a deleter key where mine has a back space key. Also the return key on mine spans two rows down the right hand side where the others have a single row, lateral button
I was sure I sure be able to programme it to increase the functions behind the keys but if not I'll have to go into Apple. At least I have the receipt and box so there won't be any argument on them helping
However if anyone knows how to dual function the backspace/delete key, that would be handy

Thanks NiBod - it's now working well with the Mac and I use Yellowbox's advice to have it work with the Microsoft work PC
I love the keyboard and it's so much better than the ones that work supply that the Delete key is a small price to pay if figure.

Looks to me like it works differently on different MS/Laptop systems
Tried you suggestion again on mine and glad it works for you but isn't a success on my Dell
However, the keyboard is so good in every other respect I've just learnt to live with it
Hi JR Buk have you solved the problem yet. I have the same keyboard and using with IMac same problem I can delete with back space key, one digit at a time, but when using light room i need a delete key and can't find a way to delete.
Any body, any ideas
