Can I get all my topics in pdf format on my desktop ?

Having sent lots of topics and psots I want to be able to archive them on my desktop - and summarize , delete , edit etc

I cant do that online, which means that I find it difficult to search in my own topics.

You can create pdf documents with a fairly simple procedure. Go to the web page you want to save as pdf, go to the Print item under the File menu. When the print dialog box comes up, look in the lower left corner and select the PDF menu. From it select Save as PDF. Put it on your Desktop if that is where you want it, though if you have a lot of them you may want to create a folder to organize them in.

Best of luck.

Once you post something, you have 15 minutes to edit your post. After that, you can't - you can only add another post correcting something you said previously.

My question is: what is the purpose of editing a post later on your computer? And do you only want to save your own posts? If so, then simply copy and paste your post into a TextEdit document - you can edit/change it there much easier than in a PDF.

FWIW, you can find all your posts on your own page - I have mine set to see the last 100 posts.

If you also want to download other people's posts, the issue here is the fact that the contents of these forums/posts are subject to these terms and things become a bit more difficult:

License to Use Submission. By sending a Submission to the Site you agree to grant Apple a perpetual, royalty-free, non-exclusive worldwide right and license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, publish, translate, create derivative works from, distribute, perform, play, make available to the public, and exercise all copyright and publicity rights with respect to the Submission. If you do not want to grant to Apple the rights set out above, do not send your Submission to the Site.

When someone posts here, they automatically have to give Apple the right to use their content due to above terms; however, they retain ownership of their content.

What is the purpose to edit my posts ? (I only want my posts, not someone else's)

I want a review, a summary so I can quickly remember what I asked and what the response was.

Otherwise I may repeat the same question again.
OK: I could copy to Word (not Text Edit, I don't like it) but tha tis tedious. Is there a quick way to get all that from this Forum as a file ?

No, not that I know of - sorry. Either save as a PDF (but that generally includes the entire page with all the posts) or copy/paste certain posts only. These forums are generally meant to be viewed and participated in (as in: posting a question or answer) online - they aren't really intended to be downloaded (probably because of reasons I mentioned above), so there is no easy mechanism to do so.

However, I just thought of another way - you may not like it, but it would be easy: Send yourself (to your own email address) a link to this thread for instance. Create a folder in your email client named "ASC" and park all those emails there - then, when you want to check back, you could simply hit the link and read the posts again. Just another idea...

I did not understand your suggestion. Why ASC ? means what ? "send a link to your own email adress" - ??
Shall I read my posts and resplies in email format

I prefer to read them here since a topic is a collection of posts so I can see the whole conversation.

I have now copied over my topics to word and the amount of text could be cut down by 80% which means I see it all at a glance.

ASC means: Apple Support Communities - which is what you are posting in.

Sending a link via email does not split up anything; you simply send a link to an entire thread like the one I am posting in right now:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4619296?answerId=20658814022#20658814022

This is the link to get to this very page - the entire page, not just one post. So, if I had sent that via email, I could just click on it and see the entire thing - not in email format, but in the browser.

I said it was just an idea; you've now told me twice that it is a bad idea, so good luck copying your posts.

Your idea is applicable not just here but any site on internet which has "permalink".

The way you present it is as if it was something tailored for this Forum but it is a general idea.

Therefore you did not express your idea intelligibly

Besides, I would need permalink to each topic and there are many.
I still would not be able to search in them for specific words.
No thanks, I tell again : no good idea.
That would be the third time I tell you this, but why don't you say "there is no simple solution to your problem" ?

To read and search the answers to your posts offline, sign up for email notifications. Then you can read and search the answers to your posts by using the search features provided by your mail program.

To read your posts offline, add a bookmark to your posts to the Safari reading list. This will store a copy of the page for offline reading.

Other than that does the ASC forum not provide any tools for offline reading of the content.
