Q: Will the 85watt "L" style connector work on my 85watt "T" style connector which is MacBookPro3,1?

I heard some say yes while other don't. What is it really? Have you tried it? My MacBook Pro is (15-inch Mid/Late 2007, 2.4/2.2GHz). I have had this guy for the past six years, and still doing good.

MacBook Pro, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

YES!  It does on mine so why should it not on yours.  Note that if you become wealthy and get a Retina model, those connectors are not compatible.

Really? thank you so much for clearing this one for me.

Will it work from power supply for the first time if I haven't yet updated the SMC? Coz my MBP is really dead even the batteries are out, no juice left unless charged. Also, do you reckon I should get a new battery?

    They are 100% compatible.

Connect it ands see what happens.  You will do no harm.  Without a battery, the MBP will run slower so I suggest that you do get a battery for your MBP if you want the best possible performance.  Besides it does give you the flexibility to take it to places where there are no AC outlets.

    Ciao.
