I know this is an old thread. Just found it because my Retina 15in was not charging - no light on the magsafe charger. The magsafe would charge another MacBook however. Thought therefore the problem was with the connector in the Retina. Then I remembered reading that sometimes dust can become lodged in the Magsafe connections and prevent solid contact. Indeed this was the case in mine. I cleaned both ends of the connector after a full shutdown and then used a small q-tip with rubbing alcohol for a clean wipe. After letting the connection dry, I reconnected them. Problem cleared.

My Macbook retina late 2012 edition also stopped charging from the magsafe charger. Tried all options like resetting SMC, PRAM, cleaning connectors with rubbing alcohol and more. The connector plugs looked fine too. Was almost going to buy another charger.

Got a pair of very fine tweezers and gently pulled at the prongs in the connector. That did the trick. Now the charger works fine.
