How do I make different shared photostreams for different groups of people?

I have a number of different groups of people to whom I wish to give access only to pictures relevant to them eg a different Shared Photostream for each of:

Girlfriend

Close Family

Distant Family

Close Friends

Distant Friends

Work Colleagues

Clients

From what I have been able to find on the Apple website and from a cursory Google search it appears that only a single shared photostream is available to me. How can I make it possible to set up multiple shared photostreams please so for instance my distant friends cannot see my girlfriend pics, and my close family can't see my Client pics?

iOS v6.0.2

Snow Leopard v10.6.8

iPhoto '08 v7.1.5 (378)

The old Galleries arrangement was far more sophisticated than this. And in any case, with Snow Leopard on my Mac I can only see Photostream on my iPhone 5 and iPad 2, not a big issue really but it does seem Apple aren't giving the customer what the customer wants, just what Apple says we want. :-(

Shared photo streams are created from the photostream tab in the photo app, when you create a new shared album, you can invite whoever you want to share it. If you want to add or remove people at a later time, you can enable the edit option in the top right corner of the photostream tab, tap the shared album and edit the people who share the stream.

Yes you can add multiple photos at once. When viewing the album from which you want to take the photos, tap the edit button in the top right corner, then tap each of the photos to be included, when finished tap the 'Add to' button and choose the shared photostream album or create a new one.

Not sure about the email address, will it allow you to simply type the whole address in.

Yes to both. For some reason I can't add myself to the list to see what others see, and it appears I can only share with people with Macs or iOS devices. That rules out 90% of my family and friends! :-( Like so many Apple ideas, it is a good concept spoiled by restricted implementation.

Many thanks to you though and I wish you and yours a Happy Christmas! :-)

You don't need to add yourself, your own shared albums will always show up in your photostream.

if you make a shared album public, anyone can see it from an Internet browser and fortunately the web addresses aren't the sort to be guessed easily, so you would be reasonably confident that only those you have provided a link will be able to see them.

I know. What I want to do is to see exactly what someone with limited permissions is able to (and not able to) see. I'm kind of "administrator" and have admin privileges so see everything, but I wanted to use another of my email addresses to be given a restricted view as an invitee would see. When it comes to 'The Cloud' I basically don't trust it: I need to see for myself that it does exactly what I want.

I won't be using the Public Shared Album feature; the only pics I would put there would be non-personal ones of merit, eg landscapes etc but then I would protect them and my copyright in them and not let just anyone see them so the public feature would be unnecessary.
