iOS 6.0.2 Update not only drains battery but also broke notification center

I guess I left out a few things which is that all the troubleshooting techniques the basic ones include resetting network, settings restore, notifications settings, wifi, network, cellular reset etc..followed by the reset to factory settings and set up as the new phone were already performed. For someone like me who lives and breathes developing software any software update can be buggy and can break things than fix it if it was not tested well, which seems like this one went through the cracks. Also if the software is not compatible with previous backups then there is no point of releasing software and backing up your preferences specially if you have data stored including messages for the past n number of years and it is called backward compatibility..

BTW I don't think there is any update that does not involve human factor since the software is developed by humans...

Actually I was not looking for help 🙂, but was looking to see the number of people running into similar issues and if there was a pattern that was causing the current issues and isolated to something that includes the backup restore. The support community @ developer.apple.com is only for app store developers and doesn't deal with any of the OS related issues.

Ok so opened up a case with the following issues:

1. Drains battery significantly when idle. I use to loose 1 or 2% through the night and now it is close to 10% and surprisingly when I pick the phone in the morning and get past the lock screen the battery drops 5 to 10% instantaneously.

2. Uses Cellular data even when WiFi is available specially once the phone is in sleep mode.

3. Notifications from CNN, and some of the apps no longer show up on the lock screen. How can I tell ? iPad mini doesn't have the issues and I am seeing the notifications on the mini but none on my iPhone.

4. SMS from backup are not showing the details once the SMS is clicked. See attached image.

5 Frequent reboots.

So the SENIOR APPLE ADVISOR has a recommendation which is restore the phone as new as the backups can get corrupt and I have applications and SMSes from past two years. The SENIOR APPLE ADVISOR AT APPLE said that "ANYTHING CAN GO WRONG IN LIFE AND SO THE BACKUP"...so the solution is to not to use the backup any longer for folks who have done database migrations earlier this shouldn't be rocket science to migrate a SQL lite database as part of product upgrades Inspite of telling him that RESTORING THE PHONE AS NEW the 3 ISSUES STILL EXIST.

GOOD TO HEAR THAT APPLE EMPLOYS PEOPLE LIKE THIS AS SENIOR ADVISORS.

No SQLLite is used for SMS storage I think based on the earlier versions of OS not sure if it is the same anymore but the point is that any restore from backup should work irrespective of the upgrade and if they can't support a successful restore from backup why even give an option.

Ok lets agree that I don't restore from backup which I have already tried and explained above that the first three issues still exist. Obviously 4 won't exist and reboot issue not noticed in the usage of 24 hrs.

Yes I agree that it can get corrupt (don't disagree on that) but it is not since I can see the messages when I view the SMS but once I click i don't see it so it is definitely a way in which the summary view and detail views work..BTW I am not the only one with the issue on SMS...follow here https://discussions.apple.com/thread/4312771?start=30&tstart=0

It could be either of the reasons, either your battery is not healthy which Apple Care can help by sending you a text message with a link to diags://<port> that once clicked will run battery test and provide an option to send the results to apple, that they can review and verify if it is the batter or not or else it could be 6.0.2 along with your personalized settings...(one thing to take note is if none of your operating environment and usage pattern has changed form 6.0.1 to 6.0.2) which was the case with me then the only variable here is 6.0.2
