how often should i empty trash

I'm a little worried that I've almost never emptied my trash. Now that I've finally emptied it's worrisome that I'm almost as 2 million files and still counting. Its been an hour or so and it is still adding files to delete. Should I be worried?

2 million! It will take a long time, and you'll just have to wait it out. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it took several hours.

Or longer several hours.
