spam on me.com email

Just in the last day, I've started receiving spam, and lots of it, on my me.com email address. Has anyone else experienced this and is there anything I can do to stop it/cut down on it? It was one of the reasons I switched my email over to iCloud (vs AOL where spam runs rampant) and now this will be a inconvenience to be back to square one.

Thanks in advance

Forwarding spam to Apple (or Yahoo or other email providers) is useless. These companies do nothing but continue to forward known spam to your inbox. The only way to stop spam is to complain directly to Apple (& other email providers) about their spam policies, which rely too much on spam folders. Your right to reject spam is being violated by the continued use of spam folders. Request the option to block all known spam from being deposited in your in-box. Another possible option is to only accept email from those in your contact (or safe) list. All others will need approval before depositing any mail in your inbox. Blocked mail should be returned "undeliverable" to the source. The use of spam folders just encourages more spam, and it's time for these companies to change their policies.

Yes I have been receiving a ton of spam to in the last 24 hours. I contacted Apple and they suggested turning on Junk Mail filtering in Apple Mail, which I had turned off as I figured it would get picked up by the iCloud servers first and not even make it to my email client. However that has not worked this last day. The attitude I got from the Apple rep seems like Apple has changed something around and maybe they now want customers to filter the spam instead. She informed me that turning on Junk Mail filtering in Apple Mail will report it's findings back to Apple for improved results.

Over the past two days, I have statred to receive a ton of junk mail. Yesterday, I received about a dozen and today I have already received about 10. All have content and subject lines from legitimatre organizations (McDonalds, Instragram, etc), but are absolutely spam. All the message direct to the same URL. Yesterday, it was "onlyboating.com" and today something else - though they are clearly from the same sender. I always receive the emails 2 at a time.

I do have spam filters enabled and a few rules which seem to catch most junk mail.

Apple needs to find a way to stop this.

I figure I pass this along:

I did some research and discovered that these may be coming from my Gmail account that I have forwarded to my icloud account. It may be possible that junk mail intended for my Gmail account is immediatley forwarded to my icloud account bypassing any filters or Gmails spam filters. Also if these emails are incorporating any read receipts they may have picked up on my iCloud account and added to their list of mailings. I say this because I checked my gmail account today for the first time in like 6 months and sure enough in the junk folder were all the same emails I got on my iCloud account. Now I don't know if everyone here has gmail being forwarded to their icloud account or not but maybe this is the culprit. Needless to say if apple mail had better rules or filters and Apple stepped up their filtering this would be a mute issue.

I received spam from (and regarding) "Dr Oz", "Printer Ink" and "MacKeeper" over a course of 4 weeks to me.com of mine, the last came in dec 28. What seems to be the mystery is that I have never used this address in question to anything, anywhere or anytime and these messages were addressed e.g to "undiscloded70125896@icloud.com", ""undiscloded389836@icloud.com" and "undiscloded836981@icloud.com", so maybe there really was a breach of some kind?
