Shouldn't this be available on OSX as well?

I see the support page for controlling ATV with a 3rd Party remote (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3296). I don't get why this is limited to Apple TV. My Mac Mini has front row and a perfectly fine IRdA sensor/controller.

Do people have experience integrating another remote with this sensor?
