Hello, I followed the instructions on my iPhone4s by going to Sett>Gen>About and nothing was new even thou I was advised to update as soon as I plugged into my Mac for a backup. Does this just mean that it tells all iPhone users to check just in case ?

Hello All,

I followed the instructions when I plugged in my iPhone 4s to do a backup on my Mac. I was then prompted to update carrier settings by going to Settings>General>About. I did as instructed and nothing was new, even though I was advised to update as soon as I plugged into my Mac for a backup. Does this just mean that it tells all iPhone users to check for any available updates just in case ?

Updating carrier settings isn't the same as updating iOS. You don't get any new or different features. It just affects, ostensibly for the better, how your phone connects with your carrier's network.
