how to fully erase a demo unit ipad 3

Hi,

i have recently bought an Ipad from Comet and found it to have the Apple demo software on it which i cannot erase. i cant go back to the store as they are now shut down. The IOS is the latest 6 build and the general tab does not contain a reset button/function.

i ahve also tried linking it upto an itunes account and tried restoring twice to a factory setting only for it to contain the demo software.

how can i get to a normal build so that i can use it without it running a demo video every 10 minutes.

If the reset button is not visible in the general tab in Settings, then you won't be able to reset the iPad, which is what you need to do. It could be that Restrictions are turned on, in which case you would need the passcode to turn restrictions off.

Try the following: Connect the iPod to your computer and restore via iTunes. Place the iPod in Recovery Mode if necessary to allow the restore.

If none of this works, then I think you need to go back to the store.

Hi there,

just had the same issue but it's an easy fix.. Just download latest itunes to your mac/PC and when done connect your iPad - at the top right hand side click the button that says iPad. This will take you to the summary page; at the top you will see the details of the device including capacity and serial number - to the right of this 2 options; check for update and restore. Simply click restore and itunes will do the rest (including update to latest ios). When finished the iPad will reboot and you will be at square 1 for setting up your demo free device.
