I have imported a stack of CDs while without an internet connection. On the old iTunes, after doing so I could click Advanced, Get Track Names and the data would appear. But where is it on iTunes 11? I checked everywhere but cannot find a way to get the CD data from Gracenote.

You will need an iternet connection. The data base is not stored on your computer. You have always needed an internet connection to get to Grace Note.

MJ, this was not the case on all previous iTunes, the Gracenote info was imported with the CD and you could look it up later by clicking Advanced/ Get Track Names. The current Help Center on iTunes still says you can do it... but it shows an Option tab to click which does not appear if the CD is no longer inserted (in which case you cannot actually do it!):

When you insert a CD into your computer, iTunes finds the CD in the Gracenote media database on the Internet and displays the name and other track information for each song. If songs appear as “Track 01,” “Track 02,” and so on, either you aren’t connected to the Internet or iTunes can’t find the CD’s information.
If you’re not connected to the Internet, you can import the songs anyway, and look up the CD information the next time you’re connected.

Sounds like you still need an internet connection and alwys have needed one. I have been using iTunes from the very early days before Grace Note came into the mix and when it was available it saved a lot of editing of tags but STILL needed an internet connection.

Seems you didn't understand the question. I'll post a new question and see if anyone else knows. You used to be able to import the CDs offline then get the data next time you were online. This now seems to be gone, so I'm stuck with lots of Track 1, Track 2. I see many people trying to get back to iTunes 10 and I can see why...

You didn't say this was what you wanted to do originally. But you're correct, this feature appears to be gone from iTunes 11. I can't find the old "get track names" (or whatever it was called) in the Store menu anymore.
Ah ha! Found it. The command is now in the contextual menu (AKA right-click menu). Hightlight the tracks you want to get names for and right-click. Choose "get track names" in about the middle of the menu. Keep in mind you do need an internet connection to do this.

@MJ, my bad, I just wrote the original question in a way it could be misinterpreted. I meant I had imported offline then wanted to get the CD Track Names after going online, rather than 'How to get CD Track Names without an internet connection' as you may have first read it. Anyways, problem solved, thanks for your input!

Hey, so same question now, with iTunes 12. I imported a bunch of cds in the basement without an internet connection, and now can't get the CD info up where i can connect to Gracenote.
