Sound Applet in Sys Preferences, Output, HDMI.
If not there then your Mac does not support sound through the MDP to HDMI or the HDMI cable you are using doesn't support it.
The HDMI Cable needs to be connected and the TV turned on. You won't see it until then.
Hi, I have similar problem, no sound via the HDMI cable on a Philips 247LH monitor. Cable is good, works on a MacBook Pro from colleague, monitor fine too. I try switiching via the "sound menu", no sound. (see first image, it is all in Dutch I'm afraid but you'll get the picture)
Monitor shows up in sound menu as output device.
When selected no sound is heard, also there is a difference in below menu (Sound). Here is the Internal speaker selected and we can see a balance slider in Settings for the selected Device.
When the Philips is chosen, like below, there is no balance slider, but a message saying "There are no output settings for the selected device".
Now what does this all mean?
What should I do to get sound through the monitor.
