iPhone 5 background noise too loud.

Everyone I talk to on my iPhone 5 say the back ground noise is very loud and it is worse on the apple headset. I see the commercial says the new 5 is designed to cancel background noise. Is there a microphone adjustment?

When I am using my iPhone 5 with the headset, the person I am talking with hears all the backgound noise and many words of the person I am talking with get cut off. Without the headset, everythng is fine. This is a huge problem and did not hapen using my iphone 4 with headset. I have called Verizon and they said Apple is aware of the problem and Apple sent an inernal memo on 12/12/12 that they are aware of the problem and that it will be fixed in the next Software update according to Verizon and that it's a software issue.

Me too. Well, I don't have an iPhone5 but my wife does. When she calls me from her car, in particular, the background noise is so loud I have to keep asking her to repeat herself. This happens with both the headset and when the phone is paired with the hands-free bluetooth that's built into the car. Would be such a simple fix if they just make it so you can turn the background noise "feature" off.

I have the same problem. People i call say they can't hear me or its muffled/garbled. It's actually impossible to make/take calls using the bluetooth. Doesn't seem as bad when I am using the phone rather than the bluetooth but this is illegal now in some states and not smart or safe in any case. I spend a lot of time driving and have to be able to use my phone in my car. I have a big investment in Apple w all my devices synced. I need them to invest in the customer and find a solution to this problem. I didn't have this problem using my old cheapo flip phone....

Every time I try to talk to my wife when using the Iphone 5 with Earpods, or any other headset for that matter, she complains that the mic on my phone headset is picking up EVERY SINGLE SOUND and amplifying it so loud that she can hardly hear my voice over all the background noise.... I have replecated this problem now 10 different iphone5 of my friends.... which is every single iphone 5. Without fail they all have this same issue. It is not my wifes phone either. People always complain when I am using my headset. ESPECIALLY when I am trying to comply with new laws requireing hands free phone usage. It is unacceptable for Apple to have failed in fixing this problem. I have spoken with several customer service reps/Genius's about this and there is no fix to date. I have upgraded my iphone5 to all latest versions of iOS with the hopes that Apple will one day fix this problem with a software update. Will someone please help us!!!!! I doubt my Apple loyalty will last without a fix to this massive inconvienence.

I am having the same issue with my brand new iPhone 5s which I will promptly trade for another phone if this is not reseoved. I use the Apple earbuds with microphone headset 100% for all calls and while I love the phone, not being able to use it as a Phone will not work. Every single caller freaks out at the slightest background noise like me touching a paper on my desk or any other slight sound much less loud noises. Previously with my 4s I could use the headset in noisy conditions with great results. All was well with my 4s until the IOS7 which made all internet access unusable as the browser simply froze and would not move despite Apples best local Genuis Bar That simple problem made the Genuis staff look like the needed a Guiness as they were like clueless drunks who sent my on my unhappy way with no slolution I want off this merrygoround Galaxy is looking very good now
