Insecure Startup Item disabled message

It's the /Library/StartupItems folder and has always existed. It appears that you're looking in your user's /Library.

OP's running new machine and I'm assuming it came with ML. The linked article is for SL and Lion. Apple last updated it in February, prior to ML release, so it shouldn't apply.😉

According to the article, repairing permissions should do the trick. Don't delete the folder. Whether or not you want to delete the startup item is up to you. I don't use any Intego stuff.

Mike, not sure you are still in trouble but here goes. I had a similar problem and I think I found the solution. Open Finder, click on Go, click on Computer, click MacIntosh HD, click Library, click Startupitems, find file you are looking for (in this case, Intego Backup Assistant) and drag it to trash. Restart and hopefully the popup is gone.

This worked perfectly for me!
