Hi guys, im trying to install an application which i downloaded. i can only open the downloaded .pkg file via terminal. however i cannot extract the file.
Does anyone know the command line to use in the terminal?
My version is OSX 10.7.2

Any legitimate .pkg file can be opened and run in Finder. Have you tried double clicking on it in Finder?

I downloaded the file and by default when i open the file it opens via Terminal only. i need to know the codes to extract the .dmg file from the .pkg file.
I need to know the command lines to extract and install the file.

That is because the Association is screwy. You need to Right Click on that file and select Get Info then in the Open With area select Other then look for Installer.App (I think that is it). It is in /system/library/coreservices.
