Uninstall or Update Java

I cannot install Java Update 1, it says that a newest version is already installed, but I cannot find it. So, how to do?

MacBook Air, Mac OS X (10.7.5)

Launch the Java Preferences.app in /Applications/Utilities/ and report back with the Java version listed.
