I just received Parallels and Windows 8 for Christmas. I heard that I should have someone at Apple install these for me so that my warrantee is not void. Is this true?

No it is not true. Installing Parallels and Windows has no impact on your warranty. Go to the parallels site and follow the installation instructions. Then install Windows from within Parallels following the Windows installation instructions.
Why on Earth would isntalling software void your warranty? That's what you're supposed to do with computers.,..
