I have an iPod Touch (4th Gen) with iOS 4.2.1 on it. I would like to update my iPod Touch (4th Gen) to the latest iOS, which is iOS 6.1. I've installed iTunes 11.01 on my Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, how can I download and install Apple's iOS 6.1 on my iPod Touch (4th Gen)? I've been trying for over a week with no success. I would appreciate any and all help. Merry Christmas to everyone! 🙂 😎

Tap Settings > General > Software Update
If an update is available there will be an active Update button. If you are current,
then you will see a gray screen with a message saying your are up to date.

On my iPod Touch (4th Gen), iOS 4.2.1, I am unable to go to Settings > General > Software Update, because it's not available on iOS 4.2.1. All it has is Settings > General > About, nothing about Software Updates. Can you PLEASE help me to Update my iPod Touch (4th Gen)? I would appreciate it very much.

Connect the iPod to your computer and update via iTunes
iTunes 10 for Windows: Update and restore software on iPod, iPhone, or iPad
A 4G to 6 Requires iTunes version 10.7 or later. That requires a Mac with OSX 10.6.8 or later
The Settings>General>Software Update come with iOS 5 and later.
