iTouch Freaking Out

we just successfully set up our itouch and my daughter pressed something and now the device won't except the passcode, is slow to touch response and speaks everytime it does something. I tried to refresh it through the computer but you have to be able to input the passcode and it won't except the code we gave it. Please help! Thanks!
