Fcpx does not have any decent masks but motion has the bezier tool, so I was wondering if there was a way to put that tool into Final Cut Pro X as an effect. Could someone help
Sure you can. In Motion create a project from the Effects Template in the Project Browser you see when you open Motion. Add a mask and publish all of the mask parameters you want. Then publish the effect and it will appear in the effects browser in FCP and when you apply it to a clip you can adjust as desired using the parameters you published in Motion.
Thanks for the reply, but when I save it into Fcpx It just apears as the shape I drew in motion, and then I can adjust size, roundness, feather ect. I want to be able to actually set down points to mask something with a new shape
This Is exactly what I do
Open 'Final Cut Effect'
Put an image into motion and then mask it out with the 'bezier mask'
Publish all mask parameters
Save to Fcpx
Am I doing Something wrong?
No I don't think you are doing anything wrong. One of the limitations in publishing a mask as an effect is you can not change the shape. You can publish the control points animation if you keyframe an animation in motion, but not change individual control points to change the shape. To do what you want requires a third party effect. Check Alex Gollner's www.alex4d.com site for free FCPX effects. Specifically compositing effects, mask+. That should meet your needs.
