Import photos?? flag photos and create event from flagged photos?? split an event??
Many ways - which one you use depends on the version of iPhoto which you do not disclose and exactly what you want to accomplish

Sorry, I didn't give more info. I have iPhoto '11, 9.4.2 (710.42) I want to create a new event from pics already in the "Photos" section.

Step One - flag the photos
Step two - create event from flagged photos (command is under the event menu)
Note that iPhoto has a great help capabality - give it a whirl someday - it is not quick but certainy is quyicker than ten months
