I've had a 3GS for a few years and just bought a 5. When I went to set up the new phone, it never prompted me to activate the phone or set it up to work with my cell service. Is there a way to manually set this up?

It all depends on how you purchased the iPhone (online, in a store, directly from Apple, from AT&T, from some big box store, etc.).
Contact AT&T for instructions.
AT&T just tells me to connect my phone to iTunes and follow the onscreen instructions, which I've already done. Any other thoughts?

If it is not working contact AT&T and discuss your issue with them.
They are the ONLY ones that can Activate it.

As in, you called AT&T and told them that didn't work and they had no other suggestions? Take it into an AT&T store.
Why can't I activate my phone with AT&T?
