Q: why aren't my files appearing?

I used the migration assistant to transfer my iTunes folder from my PC to my Mac so that I wouldn't have any issues when I synced my phone to the new mac.   The music isn't showing up unless I sign out of my administrator account and sign in to some sort of windows one.  Does this make sense? Is there a way to fix it?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities

Migration Assistant creates a new user with your files, so you have to migrate your files of one of your users to the other one using an external disk or Shared folder to have all your data on one user. Finally, open System Preferences > Users and Groups, select the old user and choose the - button to delete the user

Okay, I have gotten to the Users folder and I see my current mac user, my transferred user and a shared folder. All the files that I transferred say that I do not have permission to open. I tried copying these files regardless to my mac user, but still nothing shows up.

How can I gain access to my files? Also, where can I find my harddrive properties?

    Thanks

You have to copy them to Shared folder, log in the user what you want to migrate the files and copy the files from Shared folder to this user account
