Osstatus error -9800

I am experiencing the exact same issue with iPad 2, 3G and WiFi, and iOS 5.0.1 and latest build of Goodreader. Dropbox worked in Goodreader until a couple of days ago, now not working. Still works fine on test iPad 1, WiFi, and iOS 5.0.1. Hope someone has come up with a solution and will post back here if I find one. Have tried uninstalling Goodreader and reinstalling, but same issue persists. Thanks! :)

Hello. I'm having exactly the same issue from 1 week now. iPad 2 WIFI and iOS 5.0.1. I didn't change anything. I sent an email to the goodreader support team and they told me that it's seems that something change in the dropbox servers side and that iOS 6 should fix the problem. I don't want to leave iOS 5.0.1.

Like powhatan2006 I do not want to leave 5.0.1. Although I don't really have a choice, I am still sporting iPad 1. I guess there will be a lot more manual syncing in my future.

I do notice that my FTP connections (syncing) are still operational.

I also have an Ipad 2 wifi running IOS 5.0.1. I just started experiencing this issue today as I tried to connect to Dropbox via the Goodreader app. I'm hoping for a fix without upgrading.

I have the iPad 2 with wifi and am running IOS 6.0.1 (updated on November 3rd, 2012) and I'm still having the issue with syncing my GoodReader app to my Dropbox. I received the following message: Invalid servr response: HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden. I contacted GoodReader and was told the following: Unfortunately we've received many other reports from customers with similar errors when trying to connect to Dropbox using GoodReader. Most customers have changed nothing on their iPads and are using the same version of GoodReader that they used successfully before. For this reason we suspect that something on the Dropbox server side has changed and we've alerted the Dropbox team to the issue. We hope to have a resolution soon.

I contacted support this is what I was told:

"Hi there,

Sorry for the trouble you've experienced! The "OSStatus" message relates to the iOS version on your iPad or iPhone. This error is usually resolved by updating the iOS on your device.

I then told them that I really don't wish to upgrade the IOS and if there was another fix for this issue. Their reply was:

"Hi there,

Unfortunately I know of no other solution. This error occurs for Google Drive, Gmail or Dropbox due to changes they have made to their system to comply with either iOS 5.1.1 for 1st Generation iPads or iOS 6.0.2 for the iPhone 5 and iPad Mini, or iOS 6.0.1 for other models.

Same error here running OS 5.0.1 and Dropbox.

Since I don't want to upgrade iOS either until Goolgel Maps for iPad is back, I am using Microsoft's Skydrive for now which workes fine.

Not overly happy with the situation. Why haven't other apps lost their Dropbox connection?

I faced the same problem here as goodreader can't link to dropbox telling os error-9800,

but by openning dropbox first and reaching one of my files there; i just pointed to the arrow on the top right and chose to open it in Goodreader, it works!

I guess all what you have to do is to start from the other side!!
