ipad wi fi settings

Hi. I have just got a new ipad4 for Christmas and I cannot connect to my home wifi router, but I can with my Samsung Galaxy 2. The Safai and itunes do not connect to teh internet.

I have read a few QandA's on the internet and my mac at home (which is using the router and is fine) is only Operating System 10.5.8 and the apple website suggests it to have to be 10.6... has anyone else had a problem with this.
