My iPod nano, 7th generation disk drive problem

My iPod nano, 7th genereation device driver will not be installed. Also, it will not be recognized in iTunes. I have Windows 7 on an HP Pavilion g7-1260 us Notebook. Are they compatible? What do I need to do? Is the fact that it is bluetooth technology an issue? Thanks for your help, I am completely stumped with this one.
