Q: i'm trying to create a new library for my dad.  holding down the shift key while opening iTunes (from 'start, all programs, itunes, itunes) isn't working.  The existing library is still automatically opening, not the library manager

    Click the icon to start iTunes then immediately press and hold down the shift key. Keep holding until asked to choose or create a library.

     

    Please note you don't need multiple libraries to manage multiple devices and, in general, using a single library and syncing with selected playlists for each device is much less work. If, on the hand, your Dad wants a library that only has stuff he wants in it then you'll need to make the effort to switch libraries each time and need to take care over editing any content that it is added to both libraries.

    Thank You, I appreciate it.  I am home briefly and trying to set up my sister and my dad on one computer.  Two iPods, and two totally different tastes in music.  If it gets too difficult, then they'll just have to go back to one library, and learning to share nicely.
