My computer is an OSX 10.6.8. I have never upgraded from Snow Leopard. Should I upgrade? We only use our computer for listening to music and emails.

Our family computer has never been upgraded from Snow Leopard. We use this computer for mainly for itunes, facebook and emails. Only personal items, no business related work is used with this computer. Should we upgrade this OS system? Thanks

iMac, Mac OS X (10.6.8)

To use iCloud you have to upgrade at least to Lion, but some functions are only available in Mountain Lion:

You can also purchase the code to use to download Lion (Lion requires an Intel-based Mac with a Core 2 Duo, i3, i5, i7 or Xeon processor and 2GB of RAM, running the latest version of Snow Leopard), or you can purchase Mountain Lion from the App Store - if you can run that:

If you run or have any older software from the older PowerPC Mac days running on your iMac ( not Intel based software versions), you may want to stay on OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. New versions of OS X will no longer run these programs and you would have to purchase updated Intel versions that will run under OS X Lion or Mountain Lion.
