Q: Can you view a shared photostream if you have OSX Lion?

I've got a Macbook running OSX Lion 10.7.5, iPhoto 8.1.2 and a brand new Apple TV.  I'm trying view a shared photostream from a family member, but everytime I click on the "accept invite" email I get redirected to a page that says this:


Photo Stream

Follow these steps to join a shared photo stream

1.Make sure you have an iPhone, iPad or iPod touch running iOS 6 or a Mac running OS X 10.8.2 withiPhoto 9.4 or Aperture 3.4 installed.

 

2.Sign in to iCloud on your devices.

 

3.Open the invitation email on an updated device and tap the Join this Photo Stream button.

 

 

So - what's the deal here?  I have to get an IOS device or buy a new laptop that supports OSX Mountain Lion to view a Shared PhotoStream on my BRAND NEW APPLE TV???

Yep, 10.8.2 is not supported on my MacBook.  I figured out a workaround though.  I borred an iPad and signed in on it with my AppleID and instantly the photostream popped up on my AppleTV.  I logged out of the iPad and it still seems to be working...the hoops that I had to jump thru to get this to work is a bit ridiculous.

    You have to have the required software as stated  - you need 10.8.2 on your Mac so obviously 10.7.5 is not supported

     

    Your Lap top probabluy does suppor t10.8 - have you checked and purchased the upgrade?
