To whom it may concern.
In order to avoid expensive wifi receivers for my Xbox 360, I'm trying to borrow the internet service from my macbook. It uses wifi but I'm trying to connect the consel to the mac via ethernet cable.
I followed the instructions in the link below exactly as shown except for 1 thing. They say to select "Ethernet (en2)". I do not have that option displayed I only have "ethernet" as an option.
Can someone help me?

try en1 instead
terminal comand ifconfig -a would provide you with all the network devices you have on your computer.
How do i do that? I went to terminal but theres nothing there accept:

in terminal type or copy and paste from here the line bellow:
ifconfig -a | grep en
and hit Enter
the result woyld be enX where X is the number of network interface, the rest you may just ignore.
Where is "terminal type"?
In the top menu bar I have " the apple, Terminal, Shell, edit, view, window, and help.
I tried new command under Shell snd came up with this.

so you have en0 and en1
try to use one or another where you instructed to use en2
its in the link in the original question I sent.
my problem is that still for options in my network sharing settings en0 and en1 don't show up.
All I have visible to selsct is Ethernet and Firewire.
Select Ethernet since you have the only one Ethernet connection it is not numbered in preferences.
I have selected that but the game consel still wont recognize the signal despite following the directions.
Do you think this problem is outside the help of Mac support and in the hands of microsoft XBOX Live?
It is hard to say... if you have all the settings correct on Mac side then it might be that you need to contact Xbox support.
I know nothing on Xbox side, however one more thing to check is the cable... it might be that you need a different kind of Ethernet cable - crossover cable
If the Xbox side is not inteligent and is unable to define the cable type and react accoringly.
Maybe I'll try that.
I do know also it suggested rebooting the modem/router and it so said something about a static IP address not acceptable.
Perhaps I shod try that too.
To be honest I got fed up and just ordered a universal wifi adaptor.
Hoping it works but stop wood rather save the $40 and do it through the laptop.
