Connecting Macbook Air to TV

How we connect our Macbook Air to our Samsung LCD TV so that we can use our Macbook Air and it will display on the TV as well or instead. We have a Telecom Technicolor TG582n Wireless ADSL2+ Modem Router and have also purchased a Wireless LAN Adapter WIS12ABGNX. We are obviously not very technically savvy. Is this even possible? If so, can anyone let us know exactly what we have to do?

Is this a newer MacBook Air or an older unit?

The reason why I ask, what adapter you get will vary.

What port options do you have the Samsung TV? Does it have HDMI? DVI? VGA?

Unless it's a first generation MacBook Air, then you'll want a MiniDisplay Port to HDMI or DVI adapter. If it's a first generation unit you'll want a Micro-DVI to DVI adapter. I do not believe a Micro-DVI to HDMI adapter exists.

If you go the route of an HDMI connection and the TV supports it then you can have video & audio run through the adapter and not require a separate cable for audio.

This adapter for example - http://store.apple.com/us/product/H1824ZM/A

Regarding the Modem/Router and LAN adapter, that equipment will have no bearing on your computer's ability to transmit a video/audio signal to the TV. As far as network connectivity, that's where those pieces fall into place.

Thank you for responding! The Macbook is modelA1370 EMC2471 so I guess it's fairly new and I will need the MiniDisplay Port to HDMI? (my TV has HDMI and DVI). So does that mean that I can't do it wirelessly - that's initially what we were trying to do but I forgot to mention that. We thought that linking up the TV with the Macbook Air would be a network. I guess network connectivity is another thing we will have to find out about...
