Dec 27, 2012 5:18 AM in response to My Apple Rocks!by Knucklesmac,Hello,
First try holding down the option key during start up and then select the HD icon to boot from the hard drive on your PowerBook. If that doesn't work, try booting to safe mode http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1455
If the above fails then your best option is to use the Mac OS X restore disk that came with your PowerBook and boot from them.
You may need to repair HD using the disk utility option on the Mac OS X disk.
Once you have your PowerBook working to the Mac OS X desktop you can create a backup on a USB external drive or a FireWire drive. (personally I would select USB as FireWire differ on the new MacBook and a conversion lead would be required)

Dec 27, 2012 5:47 AM in response to Knucklesmacby My Apple Rocks!,Thank you..!
Unfortunately, the first two options do not work. I have the grey Mac OS X install disc. Is that what you are referring to..?
Note: I get the tone, white screen, grey Apple Logo, spinning gear and then it shuts down and repeats. The only way I can make it shut down is to hold the power key...
