Ipad 1st generation - is there seal on box

Hi I'm thinking if buying an ipad from eBay, it's a 1st generation ipad and is being sold a new and sealed but without the lid on the box. Can anyone tell me if the version should have a seal on the whole box or if the lid can be removed without breaking the seal? Thanks Lou
