Hi, cannot seem to install the latest itunes onto my windows laptop. Always get so far with the installation before an error occurs and it aborts.
I've tried the troubleshooting steps and uninstalling my current itunes but still having the same problem.
Any ideas?

You likely need to completely un-install it, then re-install it. There is a specific way to un-install so that it is successful.
For Windows XP - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1925.
For Windows Vista or Windows 7 - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1923.
To re-install, go to this web site - http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ - ensure you select "Get iTunes for Windows" in the bottom of the left margin.

This error appears to be referring to "Microsof win 32 version". Are you trying to install the correct version of iTunes.
I've been downloading the windows 7 version (the same as the one you linked) ...
Try downloading iTunes from a different user account, to see if that will work.
Only have the one account sorry! Will an apple shop help me with this error even though it's on a PC laptop?
They may be able to, however they may not be able to. It depends on why you are having the issue. If it is an issue directly related to Windows, then no.
Try restarting? If not you may need to make sure you delete all related apple software and then follow the articles above. =)
