why does my main computer need to be on for homesharing to work?
I can ply my iTunes music through my iPad so long as my main computer is on, but I would think I should be able to do it even while my main computer is off. HELP?

If you are using home sharing then it needs the computer where you are sharing your content from to be turned on, if it's switched off then it won't be able to access your computer's iTunes library.
