How do I disable iMessage on my MacBook pro?

I have purchased a MacBook Pro for Christmas and whilst viewing different applications I couldn't close the message application unless I typed in my Apple id password. Now, I am recieving iMessages at not only my iPhone and iPod but my mac too. How can i disable this on my mac???

As you can see I don't even have an active account in iMessage and yet this incessant pest will not go away. Anyone have any ideas?

And before anyone tells me to try signing in to uncheck the checkbox beside "Enable this account"... Already tried.

Thanks.

UPDATE:

Nevermind. Just figured out that turning bluetooth off is the trick.

Regardless, Apple, knock it off! You do know what "opt-in" means, ya? Even with Bluetooth on nobody should be pestered by that unless they bloody well want to! Jeeeeeeeeeeebus! Would it really kill you to put a couple flags around your socket code?! You can't see me right now, but I'm shaking my fist vigorously.

I have never had my phone number activated on my mac and up until my most recent update it never used to show iMessages on my mac unless I opened the program. Now even when closed iMessages pop up on my mac.... I checked in preferences and it only shows my iCloud email as being activated and my phone number is not...

Why is it still doing it?

I am having this EXACT same problem! I never activated my phone number on my mac and now every time I get a text on my phone it's dinging and showing up on my mac. It seems to have slowed my laptop down a lot. Annoying! I'm not finding anyway to disable it, since it was never enabled. This all started happening after the latest update. ???

I just figured this out, yay! You need to be on your laptop to do this. Open the iMessage app, then look up at the top left of the screen on your laptop and it should be the apple icon, "messages", File, Edit, View, History, etc. Click on "Messages", then click on "Preferences", then click on the accounts in the box on the left - because a pop-up will open after you click on "Preferences". I was unable to remove the accounts, but I was able to uncheck all the boxes and disable the accounts. Voila! Mission accomplished. 🙂
