I am like you I do not like the new models I prefer the model I have but it does not work. Keep dreaming on the 3 strikes and its replaced, they have replaced mine over 3 times as well as other major repairs 2, 3 and 4 times all in a 2 month time frame.

I have lost too much time, energy, clients, money, and even had a stroke I was so ****** off on the phone after the tech told me there is no problems that only I have the problem and everyone on these forum are aliens causing trouble.

Now that my iMac is doing the very same thing that I got at the same time, same configuration I decided its time to do something.

I replaced the logic board of my 2011 macbook pro 15'  4 months ago, because of this GPU problme, and AGAIN it seems to be happening to the new logic board probably.

There hasn't been no screen gliches and freesing happened yet, but it seems to be happening energy leaking inside the logic board, which is the symptom for the failure in solder joints between the GPU and the logic board.

My macbook pro's battery lasts only 1 hour and half now because of this possible energy leaking.

I had the exactly same symptom a few days before when my macbook pro suffered the display gliches and hard freeze from this GPU issue 4 months ago.

Im gonna bring my macbook pro to Genius bar tomorrow morning.

Im worrying about if I have to pay $310 puls tax again.

Same issue here, split screen, GPU failure. I am able to post this message using gfxCardStatus to bypass the AMD 6750 GPU, but have had a lot of crashes. Like accidentally clicking the wrong application. I called Apple and visited a Apple Care support specialist and replacements will use the same GPU with a 90 day warranty. Does not seem like a permanent fix to me as i have read others like KmS RoX having them replaced multiple times.

Apple should institute a program to fix this.

Nice of them to remove the mention of a class action lawsuit instead of addressing the problem.

Add me into the list as well!

    This is very sad!

Macbook pro 2011 version definitely has a design flaw and apple is not ready to listen to all of us.

I bought the 2011 MBP in 2012 Sept. And it has failed in LESS THAN TWO YEARS.

I have the AMD 6750M GPU failing in my macbook and I know I am not alone. We need you to give an ear to our problem.

We have paid premium price to expect a premium product. This is not what we deserve when we believe in you.

I hope all of you take a look at this :

All of you, please request for a recall of this model with AMD 6750M GPU.

APPLE, my business is impacted, my clients are impacted, my time and money is getting wasted.

If Apple doesnt help me here, I am definitely boycotting all APPLE stuff.

Makes me sad that I have been a dedicated apple fan since many many years.

I still have faint hopes from apple. I hope they hear me.

If you want Apple to hear your complaint, you have to call them. These forums are community supported and not monitored by Apple.

I have just written a mail to Tim Cook seeking his help in finding a resolution to this issue.

I have also point him out to the forum posts.

I will wait for the reply.

When I called to request a goodwill repair on my early 2011 MBP GPU failure, and was refused despite calm persistence, I asked how to make sure my issue was made known higher up. The staffer offered to file an engineering report or some such. Make sure you ask that a failure report be filed. Maybe it goes in a bin, maybe it doesn't. It can't hurt. Every bit of pressure helps.

I contacted Tim Cook and got his condensing assistant which was no help what so ever. Basically gave me the run around till my warranty ran out. May as well get ready for her...

I wrote a great article here yesterday and Apple deleted it within minutes of me posting it. I received the below email...

In other words if I am not a sheep then my opinion does not count. This is NOT the only forum and there is soon to be an entire website based on this one flaw and NO posts will be erased except the posts that Apple Aliens write trying to cause trouble. I am a Music Journalist among other things and being a Journalist I intend to keep major focus on this issue that affects now two of my Mac's.

I have lost money, lost clients (got them back but Apple lost some high profile Apple users from phones to computers in the process), had a stroke, took a hit to my reputation until I made full disclosure of the Apple issue so my reputation was restored as well, and again the loss of more Apple buyers making the switch. Many are buying Andriod phones just because they refuse to buy anything Apple until they straighten up their act. It is high time Apple feels the pinch. Will it be David and Goliath? Maybe... maybe not.

This is continuing on with my target disk mode issue via thunderbolt after the logic board was replaced for the same GPU issue everyone else here is having problems with, with the macbook pro 15 early 2011.

I went to pick up my macbook this morning. The gentleman who served me asked me to sign-off on the repair but I asked "is it fixed?" to which he responded "they have ran diagnostics and it should be fine". I insisted that they test it before I take it away to make sure it is fixed as I do not want to make a fifth trip to their store. He brought out a thunderbolt cable and a "floater", what they call their macbook airs they use at the genius bar. He tested it, and it failed. He got another cable, tested it, failed. Got another macbook air to test with and failed again. I left the genius bar without my laptop.

After all that, I still have not had a chance to test the GPU issue after they replaced the logic board. Anyone know how to make the GPU problem happen at will?

  • goldenegg001 Level 1 (0 points)

Running 3DMark on a loop seems to bring out the GPU problem pretty quick.

Just want to add my disappointment too. Got the same problem. My Apple reseller in Lecce, Italy  C&C Consulting quoted € 650,00 to fix thr problem. I and my large family are MacUser since twenty years. I worked with quadra, performa, G3, G4, Mac Pro, iBook, IMac have three iPad , iPhone etc.  and never happened something like  MacBook Pro early 2011.
