    It's been ten days now...

Search and connection is better than before, and I can now use it in a room with ac...

Someone said on another furom that it should be a permanent fix or atleast until the next update...

My other coworker's phone has been working for about 3months now, so maybe this fix really will last...

Mine has been working fine for over a month since I heated the chip up directly with a good hairdryer.

Used a piece of cardboard (with a wifi chip shaped hole cut in it) to protect the rest of the phone and gave it a good blast.

Great to hear that. Hopefully this will be a permanent solution for us. If not, I'm going to replace the wifi chip. I also covered the left part of the board with silicone pad. Good thing is that there are no sensitive components in the part where wifi is located. So it was not a problem. I heated the gun to 320ºC and blew for about 30s on the chip from appx. distance of 1cm. Let's see how it works   What parameters and time did you use for reflowing ?

As for me, since I used a hairdryer, I heated the wifi chip directly for about 5 to 10 minutes with other parts covered...

Ah, you used only a hairdrayer. I'm a bit concerned this will not be enough for permanent solution for you. The reason is that to reflow a solder you would need tempereture around 220ºC - 250ºC and hairdrayer is not able to reach this temp. The max. is about 150ºC. For me hairdryer, though over back cover lasted only for a week or two. But let's see how your works... If it fails again I would recomment to buy a heatgut and give it a direct hit with 400ºC

I'll definitely buy a heat gun if it fails again...

    Yours working now?

Yes, but I've reflowed only yesterday so it is too soon to say if it works or not. I will report back if anything bad happen.

This is waste of time... It has nothing to do with bluetooth data. Sometimes if wifi is greyed out then after some time it may become active again because of phone overheating or freezing. Reset network settings just enable wifi and bluetooth automatically so it appears that this procedure fixed the problem. Cheers.

Same thing happened to me Jake.  My wifi was out for a month on a replacement phone I had for approximatley 5 weeks.  Replaced because the wifi greyed out.  I did all the procedures Apple threw my way and nothing worked.  I was one month out of my warranty so they were kind enough...cough cough....to send me a refurbished phone for free.  When the second phone's wifi greyed out I decided to wait out my contract.  I'm not going to spend a fortune on another phone.  A month later suddenly my wifi came back...that was last week.  I did nothing.  I knew going through all those procedures was a waste of my time.  Yes, I feel fortunate to have my wifi back.  Still makes me crazy that you cannot depend on the wifi sticking around.

The blow dryer worked for me.  Did it for about a minute and it has been working again for over 24 hours.
