Can invited users upload photos to my shared photo stream? And if so, how do you do that?

Right now you can't. At the present time, only the person creating the shared photo stream can add and delete photos. If you would like to see this changed, you can let Apple know here: http://www.apple.com/feedback/icloud.html.
