Could not sign in to iMessage

Hi!

iMessage stopped working on my iMac (mid 2011) and became inactive.

When I try to restart (enter Password) I receive this message: "Could not sign in iMessage.the server encountered an erro processing registration. Pls try again later"

The PW is correct, it works (iMessage, Facetime, notes, etc) on my other 2 Macs, my MBA and the iPad.

Browsed this forum and others and tried the usual solutions in the last couple of days:

- Restarting everyting (mac, router, all other devices etc)

- Password reset (cmd + R on startup) with creation of new Keychain.

- check firewall

- DNS 8.8.8.8

- check that time is set automaticly.

- reset my apple ID

- used time machine and went back 2 months. a time when imessage worked.

Running out of ideas.....

Having messages on my main working machine was useful but I am close of giving it up.

Any advice would be highly appreciated, especially under the circumstances that I have zero apple support where I stay (currently based in Singapore). No chance in talking to someone on a hotline, no official Apple stores, only licensed dealers.

Thanks and happy new year!

Hi,

Check the Serial Number show up.

Open About this Mac and click the Current OS level twice to change it to the Serial Number.

At version 7.0.1 which came with the OS X 10.8.2 update it seems the registration/Verification process uses the Serial Number to create the Authorisation token.

If the Serial Number is not present it does not happen.

It should be replaced by a Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider.

Mostly it happens when repaired or refurbished that involves Logic Board replacement.

Hi Ralph,

thanks for the quick response! Well, forgot to mention it, I saw your tip rgd the serial number in an earlier thread already. Checked, my Mac has a serial number, it has never been repaired.

Msgs worked with Mt Lion before.

I tested it a bit more with the iPad yesterday, Message works fine on it, but when I wanted to go into my Account details I got this error (see attachment).

Starting to think it is not linked to the iMac. What do you think?

Thanks again!

HI,

That does look like the server is having Problems and not the App.
