Unable to restore Apple TV to presets

Apple's recommendations don't solve the problem: I can't see any text on screen. Rebooting doesn't make a difference. Everything was great until I changed the setting from 720 to 1080. Now I can't return it to a functional setting. Anyone have any suggestions?
