No sound after using Jensen iPad Dock

I used my new Jensen iPad dock with my iPhone 4S. After unplugging the iPhone it would no longer play music or allow text sounds when not connected to another device or though headphones. The volume control buttons on the side do not work properly, and the volume bar has completely disappeared from the music application. Also, when connected to a bluetooth device the options to choose music playback from the bluetooth device and iPhone speakers has changed. Instead if iPhone speakers it now says "Dock Connector". I know the iPad dock is the problem, but what is the solution? User uploaded file

had this a number of times to me even after using the charger it is dust or dirt in the charger plug of your phine or even in the earjack. depending on which you were using recently, use a photographes brush or i use an air ball for blowing the dust out do not blow in with your mouth the moisture corrodes things.

Essentially the dust gets pushed in there and the connectors think they are still connected, when using a dock especially if it hasnt been used for a while wipe the contact jack clean before using.
