i'm wondering if a product of this sort is somewhere in the pipeline. i have a bunch of referential and productivity apps on my device that i would love to access on my macbook, which i have spent some good amount of money for (eg, black's law dictionary).

There is an iPhone emulator as part of the XCode software development package. Although it is intended for software developers to test their code. Not sure how well it would work for just any app.
surely it's necessary for developers, but i'd like to see a product made for consumers. perhaps it's a legal issue where the current developmers contract doesn't cover devices outside of iPod and iPhone.
either way, OS X emulator should happen.
