Is there an audio cable that has one end that is an optical audio end and the other that is suited for an older receiver, an analog connection?
You need a small cheap DAC that accepts optical in and give analogue out generally via 2xRCA sockets for stereo. Most will not decode and downmix dolby digital 5.1 but will be ok for stereo.
Check on Amazon or any large electrical component retailer. Monoprice in US has been quoted before but you may be elsewhere.
If your TV is close to your receiver a cheap option might be to check if the TV has audio out RCA sockets that you could hook up to the receiver with RCA ro RCA setero leads.
