playlist not updating?

Hi all

my most important and most used feature seems to have gone, although the playlist-editor still shows it:

automatic update of the playlist.

Most of my intelligent playlist are set to automatically update, sorted so as to get the songs that werend played the longest time...

the buttons are activated (automatic update && oldest playcount), but the playlist just sits there.
