a problem with your audio configuraiton. Audio/Video playback

When opening my iTunes, I got a box saying: iTunes has detected a problem with your audio configuraiton. Audio/Video playback may not operate properly. I clicked on a song to play to hear how it sounded, but song never played at all. Can someone please help me with this? I haven't upgraded to 11 yet...still using 10.7
