iPhone 5 iMessage activation.

So, I just recently got a 32 gb iPhone 5 for Christmas. And just like anyone else, I unboxed it, set the things up and tried to activate FaceTime and iMessage, which I cannot. I turn on the iMessage and FaceTime buttons and all it did was for the past 2 days is show "waiting for activation". At first I thought its just my wifi problem then I just turned to you guys for the answer. I really need to activate those two apps, any comment and replies are greatly appreciated.
